The individual should have a fundamental understanding of electromagnetic wave propagation such as radar, communications, optics, etc. This position requires the development of modeling and analysis of electromagnetic wave propagation and scattering, signal processing techniques to derive useful information from measurements, and the development of prototype systems and hardware.

    Principal Radar Design Engineer - Full Time

    Job Description: PRA is a small business focused on applications involving EM wave propagation (radar, communications, optics, RFID, etc.) and is looking for a lead engineer for the design and development of radar and RF prototype hardware. Candidate will be able to start from a design concept, complete required engineering, validate the RF design via brassboard test and troubleshooting. Candidate will have the ability to design RF receivers and transmitters and have fundamental knowledge of antennas and signal processing. The candidate must be able to perform laboratory testing to guarantee the product performance and have experience with network and spectrum analyzer measurements. Candidate must be able to understand the performance of basic RF components such as amplifiers, analog filters, mixers, and analog-to-digital converters and should be able to assess VSWR and inter-modulation products in receiver designs. In addition the candidate should be able to direct and assess the performance of RF technicians working in a laboratory environment.

    Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Play a lead role in development projects (often from concept to demonstration of prototype) which may range from designing complete RF transmitter and receiver systems to minor changes to existing designs.
  • Contribute to cross functional teams that include algorithm developers and software and DSP/digital design engineers to ensure overall project success.
  • Provide circuit level design and implementation for prototype hardware.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of an EM laboratory.
  • Provide direction for junior level engineers and technicians.

  • M.S. Electrical Engineering and a minimum of twenty years experience as an RF design engineer, exceptional candidates with less education will be considered.
